Artnotes: Scarecrows and Invitations

Roses and Cherries in a Blue Vase  Laurie Fox Pessemier Acrylic/canvas 23 x 15"  57 x 33cm  495.00
We’re sitting out on the porch with our social distancing art show today.  I am tickled by the fact that  children, on foot, on bicycles, in groups, inspect all the paintings hung on our fence.  Of course they run when greeted, and are certainly not buyers, but I am gratified to sow interest with future generations in the visual arts.   Adults just think we’re weird, unless their child says, “Look Mom, beautiful flowers”.

We have had some kind and generous folk stop by to cheer us on as well.   Last weekend, someone gave us a planter for our flowers.   I would likely sit outside anyway, and the whole thing rings of The Trouble with Harry.  Life goes on despite whatever else is happening.

Another generous friend gifted us with a book on Spaventapasseri (scarecrows).  It features wonderful photos of the motley crew strewn throughout Italy.   It inspired me to make a girlfriend for my current specimen.   The two scarecrows, who look a bit hippie-like, are now standing in the back yard.   They have had no effect on the ever-annoying chickens, but scare all the dogs.
Blair says they look like us, but I haven’t asked who is who.  Maybe they are selfies.  I got my selfie stick from Amazon and it’s a peach.  Blair made a little movie of our artshow and scarecrows.    The idea for it was to be able to move around during our Zoom opening with Sozo Gallery on Wednesday this week.

We have a US gallery now:  Sozo, in Charlotte, NC.   It’s really a good thing for us:  someone to receive and sell our work in the USA, and to promote it.   That’s how we are having a Zoom opening, where you can see/hear us, and look at some of the paintings around our house.   Here’s an invitation:  https://www.eventbrite.com/e/107610118762
Here' a taste of  our outdoor art show, in Rocca Malatina
