My trip to Munich (Monaco di Bavaria, in Italian) is still very fresh in my mind. I painted the garden of the art museum, Lenbachhaus, from a photo I took. But one the thing which impressed me about the Blue Rider painters was that they took inspiration from children’s artwork. Children, who see things for the first time, have fresh eyes that record what they see in a unique way. You know the type: sideways windows, stick arms and legs, big pink heads, flowers. Sitting in the accountant’s office yesterday, I had to admire her son’s collage drawing. I was tempted to pluck it off the wall. I am looking for children’s drawings which might inspire me, but it’s not something one finds easily. Maybe this is a hint to those of you who kept your very young kids drawings to place them in appreciative hands*. |
