Artnotes: How to Have a Good Time

Blair, Berlino and I have spent a completely calm week up here in the Apennines.  I got a haircut, Blair got new glasses, and we’ve been swimming a few times.  It’s quite hot, but not as hot as when we venture down from the hills onto the humid plain of the Pianura:  Vignola, Modena, Bologna. That can render me crazed.  I feel bad we’re not going to the dog park, but the prospect of watching Berlino run around in 100 degree heat exhausts me.

We do venture out to the Fountain of Youth, and have had some rousing talk with Stefano and his sister Valentina who run the seasonal “la Quiete” restaurant.  A dip in the pool, and then an apertivo puts me in the mood for dinner at home and a quiet read.

Very little happens at Gallery 959, our new art space in Roccamalatina.  So, we are planning a new show:  “Breaking Bread”.   The show will feature paintings and artworks relating to dining, drinking wine, sipping tea, or whatever we humans and dogs do together, over food and drink (try that, AI).
Red Hollyhocks  Laurie Fox Pessemier   Acrylic/canvas  18 x 10.5"  45 x 27cm    490.00
A friend sent me a photo of a painting she did of octopus in a blue and white bowl.  It gave me the idea I could include her work.  And then I thought, what about C’s work, and  B’s  and before long I wondered, why not do both a physical and virtual show with lots of work?   So I’ve been researching how to hang your picture on my virtual gallery wall with a link to the artists (who can then sell it, or not).   Let me know what you think?

I am trying to use my cool energy these days.  It’s too hot to work on anything outside – we’ve actually opted to eat indoors because the kitchen is cooler than the garden.   We did go to the Chiosco la Quiete last night for the meat platter and wine.  Despite its lower altitude, it gets extremely cool there about 8:30, so we sat savoring the chilled breeze, while Berlino ate the rest of the cured meats.  That dog sure knows how to have a good time.
