Artnotes: The Ones I Miss

Geranium Yellow Background   Laurie Fox Pessemier  Acrylic/canvas/oil pastel  18 x 28" 46 x  71cm   690.00
I have very little to write this week – the weather was sunny and fair, and we finally found an actual dog park for Berlino near the Panaro River.  I’ve been looking for it for a year, but Google could never quite get me there.
Blue Chair Dinner  Blair Pessemier   Acrylic/canvas  18 x 21.5"  45 x 55cm    590.00
We’re working on our dining paintings, for our "Dinner" show at the gallery.   Our neighbor brought us to a meeting of area artists on Thursday, which was really kind of him.  These groups generally don’t appeal to me, because it’s often just a session to complain about no sales (this encourages one not to paint, but to sell).  It’s why we keep our Art Salon as a place to SHOW our work, not sell or advertise it.  With the meeting Thursday evening, I would have been happier if everyone in the group brought something they made.   One woman wore a blouse she hand decorated, which was terrific.

Lunch by the Pool   Laurie Fox Pessemier  Acrylic/canvas 26 x 32"  66 x 82cm  690.00
It was a tough week in Roccamalatina with a selfish and rather nasty guest.  It happens.  It’s made me think I never want to entertain again, but hopefully that feeling will pass.    In the meantime, we’re keeping a low profile, with no further guests until late August.
Monet Picnic   Blair Pessemier   Acrylic/canvas  18 x 21.5"  45 x 55cm    590.00
I can never tell if it is better to be like a fancy person (you know the ones, who’ve never had a “problem”, or a sickness, or a failure? (dig deeper)),  suppress my feelings, enduring the difficulty, OR respond to the situation directly.   I get a terrible headache when I hold it all inside.  I really wanted to leave this guest at the side of the road, but I knew Blair would feel compelled to go rescue her.
A Weed Indeed    Laurie Fox Pessemier  Acrylic/canvas    19.5 x 8"  4 9x 20 cm    490.00.
I always think one learns by their mistakes, but if nobody points them out, how would you know it was a mistake?   I never really "learn" the answers to the questions I get right, only the ones I miss.
Apple Tree   Blair Pessemier   Acrylic/canvas  11.5 x 19.5"   x 30 x 50cm    490.00
