Artnotes: Another Human Being

Even though I am a fiend for the new, exciting experience, there are moments when I am happy for life simply to be stable.  We had another week of crazy upset, involving online banking.  Online things are the worst for me – you can’t send a bouquet of flowers or apologize to a machine.  There are so many human misunderstandings in life that help us grow, but a misunderstanding with AI is just frustrating and life shortening.

We spent lots of time this week walking Berlino, or sitting in the piazza in Stimigliano.  We walked miles around Vescovio, the site of a church, and convent, Roman ruins, and huge olive groves.  He and I walked so much on Tuesday that Berlino himself had to sit down to rest (Blair was trying to regulate things on the telephone).

There’s a carnival near the Roman bath excavation site:  Luna Park.  It’s open what seems like all the time, and children are bouncing yards (meters) into the air constantly.  It’s what I’d like to do, as if would push and pull and jiggle all my worries away from me.    A merry go round plays “Old MacDonald” in Italian.

I spent a lot of time organizing trip ideas for guests who are coming soon.  It makes me enjoy my own area even more.  There is a particular fresco I want to see in Mantova, and we are planning a day in Umbria.  This inspires me to start a new vlog, where once a month we visit a unappreciated location, and make a video about it.

We met a lady in the piazza in Stimigliano this week who just wanted to visit with us, in Italian.  She wasn’t really noteworthy, perhaps our age or maybe a little older.   She visited with us about living in the borgo (the upper, walled, pedestrian site of our home), and places to visit nearby.  She wondered where we were from, and we pursued rather usual, simple talk for more than 15 minutes.  It felt so good to communicate with another person; all my uptightness vanished, and we just enjoyed communicating with another human being.
